Plain-English terms for buying live invertebrates from Scuttle & Squeak.
Overview
Scuttle & Squeak is a small UK-based hobbyist breeder of exotic invertebrates, including isopods, jumping spiders, flower beetles, and giant millipedes. By placing an order with us, you agree to these terms. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have permission from a parent or legal guardian to make a purchase. If anything is unclear, please get in touch before purchasing.
Orders & Payment
All purchases are made by enquiry rather than through an online checkout. Once we've agreed on your order, payment is required before we dispatch any animals. We accept payment via bank transfer or PayPal. If you have a concern about a payment, please contact us before raising a dispute with your payment provider. We reserve the right to decline a sale if we believe the animal's welfare may be at risk.
Shipping
We ship within the UK only, Monday to Wednesday, via next-day delivery. We will delay dispatch if weather conditions pose a risk to the animals in transit. Shipping dates are confirmed with you before dispatch.
Live Arrival Guarantee
Every animal we sell is covered by our live arrival guarantee. If an animal arrives deceased or in visibly poor health, we will replace it or issue a full refund — your choice. Full details, including how to make a claim, are on our Live Arrival Guarantee page.
Returns & Cancellations
You have the right to cancel your order at any time before it is dispatched for a full refund. Once live animals have been dispatched, returns cannot be accepted for welfare reasons. If an animal you receive doesn't match its description, please contact us and we'll make it right.
Animal Welfare & Responsibility
Once your animals have been delivered, their ongoing care and welfare become solely your responsibility. We provide care guides on this site as general guidance, but they should not be relied upon as your sole source of care information. Scuttle & Squeak accepts no liability for health issues, injury, or death arising from husbandry or environmental conditions after delivery. By purchasing, you confirm that you have independently researched the species you are buying.
Website Use
This website is provided for personal, non-commercial use. Please don't copy or reproduce our content — including photos, care guides, and descriptions — without asking first. We collect your name, email, and delivery address to process your order. We don't share your data with third parties or use it for marketing unless you opt in.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page. The terms that apply to your order are those in place at the time you make your purchase.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
